How Shopify UI Extension Improved Metafield Management

Client Overview

Problem Statement

The client had more than 400 metafields across Products, Orders, Collections, and Customers. This created several operational challenges:

• Important metafields were difficult to find

• Teams had to scroll through hundreds of fields

• The Shopify admin interface became cluttered

Shopify allows metafields but does not provide a simple way to prioritize or rearrange them based on business needs.

To solve this challenge, we built a custom solution using Shopify UI Extensions. The extension allows the client to control which metafields should appear on specific Shopify admin pages. Instead of displaying all metafields, only the required ones are shown.
