How to Launch a Shopify Store Faster With Amwhiz

How long does it take to launch a Shopify store?

A simple Shopify store can go live in about two weeks. If you want a premium theme, around 50 products and a few apps, plan for four. Stores with custom checkout logic, ERP sync or more than one country usually take six to eight weeks.

There's one assumption behind those timelines: your content is ready when we start. When a brand sends us a complete product sheet and decent photos in week one, we usually go live on the agreed date. When the plan is to "finish the descriptions over the weekend", it often slips by a week or two.

Where the time actually goes

When a launch slips, people blame the developer. Sometimes that's fair. But look back at most delayed projects and you'll often find the store was built weeks before launch and was simply waiting on something else.

Product data is the usual suspect. Someone has to gather the sizes, the shipping weights, the SKU codes, and colour names that actually match the photos. With 30 products that's an afternoon. With 400 products spread across two warehouses, it can turn into a month of WhatsApp messages between the founder, the warehouse and the photographer.

Payment gateways come a close second. If you sell in India through Razorpay, PayU or Cashfree, the KYC review will want your PAN, GST certificate and bank details, and some gateways also check that your site has proper policy pages. A lot of founders apply in the final week, then spend several working days watching a finished store sit behind a password.

The homepage is next. It's normal for it to go through four or five versions when three people are giving feedback, and each round quietly adds a couple of days.

Then there's the late feature request. A size guide that works from height and weight, gift wrapping with a note, a pincode checker on the product page. Each one sounds like ten minutes of work. Some are. Others need a custom app and a fresh round of checkout testing, and that's how a two-week project becomes a five-week one.

What you can do this week to launch sooner

You can shave real time off your launch before you speak to any agency, including us.

Apply for your payment gateway today. Even if your store isn't built, starting KYC now means approval will probably land before you need it. Do the same with your courier or shipping aggregator account.

Put your products in a Google Sheet, one row per variant. Columns for title, price, compare-at price, SKU, weight in grams, size, colour and stock will cover most stores, and the format maps neatly onto Shopify's CSV import later.

Get your photos into a consistent shape. Square images around 2048 pixels wide work well with most Shopify themes and stop your collection pages looking messy.

Write a short, honest return policy. It doesn't need to be long. It does need to exist, because both customers and payment gateways look for it.

Finally, make a "later" list. Loyalty points, bundles, a quiz, a blog. Write them down so they don't get lost, then agree with yourself that none of them are needed to take the first order.

How a two-week launch runs at Amwhiz

On a quick build, the first two days do most of the heavy lifting. We go through your products, your customers and what the store needs on day one, and we split everything else into a phase-two list. The same days, we kick off the gateway application, connect the domain and set up the shipping account, so the slow approvals are already moving.

Days three to seven go into the theme. We set up your branding, build the homepage and product page, and send you a preview link. Please open it on your phone, because that's where most of your customers will see it first.

In the second week we load products and collections, write the menus, customise the order emails and install analytics. The last few days are just testing. We place real test orders with every payment method you offer, including COD, then process a refund, try discount codes and check the store on a cheap Android phone as well as an iPhone. Then we take the password off.

About timing: our contracts include a delivery date, and if we go past it, the extra days aren't billed. So we're fairly careful about the date we promise in the first place, and we'll usually suggest a slightly later launch over one we aren't sure we can hit.

On price, our Starter launch is ₹45,000 ($499) for a two-week build, and the Professional launch is ₹1,20,000 ($1,300) for four weeks with more products, premium theme work and app setup. Larger or multi-country stores get a custom quote after a call.

Launch lean or launch complete?

We usually tell new brands to launch with less. Once real customers are on the store, you'll see which products get clicks, where people abandon checkout and what they keep asking about on WhatsApp. Two or three weeks of that tells you more about phase two than another month of planning would.

Some things can't be cut, though. Prices, delivery times, a checkout that works and proper policy pages all need to be there on day one. If a first-time visitor doesn't trust the store, they probably won't come back later to see whether it got better.

Questions people ask us about fast launches

Can I launch a Shopify store without a developer? Yes, plenty of people do. Shopify is designed for it. Where a developer saves you time is in payment and shipping setup, theme customisation and testing, which is also where DIY launches tend to stall.

How much does it cost to launch a Shopify store in India? You'll pay Shopify's monthly plan fee, any paid theme or apps, and the cost of help if you hire it. With Amwhiz, a two-week launch starts at ₹45,000. Check Shopify's India pricing page for the current plan fees, since they change from time to time.

Will a quick launch hurt my SEO? Not if the basics are in place. Clean URLs, proper page titles, compressed images and a sitemap submitted to Google Search Console are enough to start. Content and links can come after launch.

Can you launch my store before Diwali or a big sale? Often, yes, as long as we start early enough and your products are ready. Talk to us at least four weeks before your sale date so there's room for testing.
