HubSpot Data Hub is the new name for Operations Hub: the HubSpot product that syncs data with other apps, cleans and formats CRM records automatically, and combines HubSpot and external data into datasets. It starts free, and paid plans run from around USD 20 per seat per month on Starter to USD 720 per month on Professional and from USD 2,000 per month on Enterprise with annual billing.
If you searched for Operations Hub, you are in the right place. This guide explains what Data Hub does, which features sit in which tier, how much it costs, and when it can replace a custom integration, and when it cannot.
Key takeaways
- Same product, new name: Operations Hub became Data Hub, keeping data sync, data quality and programmable automation and adding Data Studio datasets.
- Data sync is on every plan: HubSpot's two-way sync apps work on all plans, but custom field mappings need a Data Hub subscription.
- Professional is the working tier: data quality automation, the format data action, custom code and Data Studio all need Data Hub Professional or Enterprise.
- It replaces some integrations, not all: Data Hub covers record syncs with supported apps, while custom business logic still needs a custom build.
What is HubSpot Data Hub?
Data Hub is the part of HubSpot that looks after the data itself rather than a team's workflow. Marketing, Sales and Service Hub use the CRM; Data Hub keeps the CRM connected, accurate and useful.
It has four main jobs:
- Data sync: two-way sync between HubSpot and other business apps, such as accounting, e-commerce and support tools
- Data quality: finding and fixing duplicates, formatting issues and odd property values, manually or automatically
- Data Studio and datasets: combining HubSpot data with spreadsheets and data warehouses for reporting and segmentation
- Programmable automation: custom code actions and webhooks inside HubSpot workflows
Operations Hub already did most of this. The rename reflects HubSpot's focus on unified customer data for AI features, which our overview of new HubSpot data sync integrations also covers.
What is the difference between Operations Hub and Data Hub?
For existing customers, the core tools are the same and existing subscriptions carried over under the new name. The main additions are Data Studio, which builds datasets from HubSpot and external sources, and deeper use of HubSpot Credits for AI and data features.
| Capability | Operations Hub | Data Hub |
|---|---|---|
| Data sync apps | Yes | Yes |
| Data quality tools | Yes | Yes, with anomaly and duplicate alerts |
| Custom code and webhooks | Yes | Yes |
| Datasets | Yes, on Enterprise at the time | Data Studio on Professional and Enterprise |
| HubSpot Credits | No | Included monthly on paid plans |
How does HubSpot data sync work?
Data sync connects HubSpot to a supported app, such as Zoho Books, Xero, Shopify or Jira, and keeps matching records aligned in one or both directions. According to HubSpot's documentation, records sync within about 10 minutes of a change once the first full sync completes.
Every HubSpot plan can use data sync with default field mappings. A Data Hub subscription adds custom field mappings, so your own properties sync too. Syncing custom objects through data sync needs an Enterprise subscription.
Data sync works best for record alignment: the same customer, product or invoice in both systems. It does not decide business rules, such as when a won deal should create an invoice or which region owns a lead.
How does Data Hub improve data quality?
Every paid HubSpot plan includes basic data quality tools for reviewing issues record by record. Data Hub Professional and Enterprise turn that into automation:
- Bulk fixes: accept or reject formatting fixes across many records at once
- Automatic rules: fix the same formatting issue on new records as they arrive
- Duplicate alerts: get notified when duplicates pass a daily threshold you set, alongside HubSpot's advanced duplicate management tools
- Property anomalies: spot properties with values outside the expected range
- The format data workflow action: capitalise names, standardise phone numbers and clean values inside workflows
Automation is only as good as the rules behind it. Start with our HubSpot CRM cleanup checklist, then lock the standards in with HubSpot data governance best practices. Duplicates can also be solved creatively, as in our case study on how we eliminated duplicate leads without email addresses.
What are Data Studio and datasets in HubSpot?
A dataset is a collection of data built from HubSpot records and external sources. In Data Studio, available on Data Hub Professional and Enterprise, you can combine CRM objects with sources such as Google Sheets, Airtable, CSV files, Snowflake and other data warehouses, up to five external sources per dataset.
Datasets can then feed reports, segments, workflows and CRM syncs. Using them in workflows, segments, syncs or exports consumes HubSpot Credits, so budget for them if you plan heavy use. At the time of writing, HubSpot listed Data Studio as a beta feature.
How much does HubSpot Data Hub cost?
Data Hub follows HubSpot's seat-based pricing. These are list prices from HubSpot's Data Hub pricing page at the time of writing, with annual billing unless noted.
| Tier | Price | Seats included | Credits per month | Key features |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | USD 0 | Up to 2 users | None | Limited data sync |
| Starter | USD 20/seat/mo monthly | Per seat | 500 | Data sync, custom mappings |
| Professional | USD 720/mo (USD 800 monthly) | 1 Core Seat, extra from USD 45 | 5,000 | Data quality automation, custom code, Data Studio |
| Enterprise | From USD 2,000/mo | 1 Core Seat, extra from USD 75 | 10,000 | Custom objects, sandboxes, more webhooks |
Professional includes up to 10 webhook triggers and Enterprise up to 100. Extra HubSpot Credits cost USD 0.01 each, and unused credits do not roll over.
When does Data Hub replace a custom integration?
Data Hub can save you a custom build when a supported sync app exists and you mainly need matching records. It cannot replace custom work when the value lies in business logic.
| Scenario | Data Hub enough? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Sync contacts and invoices with a supported accounting app | Yes | Native sync app plus custom mappings |
| Clean and format records on entry | Yes | Professional data quality automation |
| Light logic inside a workflow | Often | Custom code actions and webhooks |
| Create invoices from won deals with tax rules | No | Needs process logic and error handling |
| Connect an ERP or in-house system with no sync app | No | Needs a custom API integration |
Custom code actions sit in the middle. Our guide to custom code vs native automation in HubSpot explains when they are the right tool. When they are not, a scoped build through our HubSpot custom integration services is usually more reliable than stretching workflows.

Is HubSpot Data Hub the same as Operations Hub?
Yes. HubSpot renamed Operations Hub to Data Hub. The core tools, including data sync, data quality and programmable automation, continue under the new name, with Data Studio datasets added.
Do I need Data Hub to use HubSpot data sync?
No. Data sync apps work on every HubSpot plan with default field mappings. You need a Data Hub subscription to create custom field mappings for your own properties.
How much does HubSpot Data Hub Professional cost?
At the time of writing, Data Hub Professional is listed at USD 720 per month with annual billing, or USD 800 per month billed monthly, including one Core Seat and 5,000 HubSpot Credits per month.
Can Data Hub remove duplicates automatically?
Data Hub Professional and Enterprise add duplicate alerts, bulk fixes and automatic formatting rules. Merging duplicates still needs review rules, so plan your deduplication logic before switching automation on.
Does Data Hub replace custom integrations?
Only for simple record syncs with supported apps and light workflow logic. Processes with business rules, such as creating invoices from deals or connecting an ERP without a sync app, still need a custom integration.
